Impress Prospective Buyers With These 3 Tips

How can you make your home more valuable in the eyes of potential buyers? I’ll share three simple tips with you today.

There are three simple things you can do to improve the value of your home in the eyes of prospective buyers: 1. Pay attention to the outside of your home. Most MLS services require that you post a photo of the front of your home, so it needs to look great to get buyers to click on your listing and learn more about your property. Add fresh mulch or rocks to your landscaping, make sure the lawn looks good, and don’t forget the front door. A fresh coat of paint and a couple of planters on each side can do wonders. Consider power washing the outside of the house and make sure that the roof is clear of any discoloration. 2. Box up your personal treasures from inside the home. You can store these boxes in the garage or the storage unit. Removing some of the things in your house will prevent buyers from getting distracted. Plus, getting rid of some stuff will make your home look larger and more open.

Put some of your things in storage to make your home appear more spacious.

3. Make sure your house is sparkling clean. Clean the baseboards, ceiling fans, and carpets, as these are things that buyers pay attention to as they go through the interior of your home. These three simple tasks will make your home stand out and increase its value in the eyes of the buyer. Learn More About the IU Med School Coming to Evansville

I recently interviewed Cathy Zimmermann, who will be the director of Development and Public Relations at the upcoming IU medical school that will be located here in Evansville.

I wanted to share a recent interview I conducted with Cathy Zimmermann, who is the Development and Public Relations Director for the upcoming IU medical school here in Evansville. Where will the school be located? “We’re going to be located in the heart of downtown Evansville on Walnut Street. We’re going to have a four-story building; there’s already beams going up in the air. There’s anticipated to be about 600 students whenever we open in the summer of 2018. The partners in the group are going to include the University of Evansville, University of Southern Indiana, Indiana University School of Medicine, and Indiana University School of Dentistry. So we’re very excited about that collaborative effort that’s going to be there.”

We’re very excited about that collaborative effort that’s going to be there.

Where's the funding coming from to build the school? “The regional legislators have been excellent in lobbying together to help the general assembly see what an important bioscience economic driver this is going to be for southwestern Indiana. So, we received significant funding from the state in 2015. As well, the city of Evansville has been extremely generous in donating over $35 million to the project. And now, we’re looking to the community to finish it off with some private donations from corporate foundations and private donors.” How will this help with the shortage of doctors in Indiana? “Across the nation, southwestern Indiana is not unique in that there is a shortage of physicians. As healthcare has opened up to so many people across the nation, there is a shortage of well over 100,000 physicians across the country. Here in Indiana, we’re down at least 500 according to some recent research that we conducted.” I think the med school will be a great addition to both our state and community. If you have any questions for me or you’re thinking about buying or selling a home in the Evansville area, don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email. I’d be glad to help.
